How many prayers sustain a body?

This installation is a decreed blessing for the survival of Black and Indigenous lives, of lives that are fugitives of gender, of lives that are cimarrón and manifest their persistence through time. iré is a whispered secret of mysteries. It is an ancestral portal of affective mangroves offering care and sustenance for lives that find themselves on the limits. It is an epistemic-spiritual manifestation situated in the residues of protective prayers sustaining fleeing bodies. This exhibition is a stopping of the clock and an opening of other chronosophies to think, to feel those who are here and those who are not, to feel those who live and those who die. To decree the survival of holy transvestites.

On Saturday May 17, 2025 at 18:00 PM a accompanying BARAZANI Dinnertable takes place with a performance and DJ set. Food for brain, belly and soul. Vegan and non-vegan food is offered. Space is limited for the dinner so we ask you to please reserve your place by emailing press@barazani.berlin.

 

iki yos piña is a cimarrona-Caribbean in the diaspora, researcher, and popular educator. In their work they explore dissident gender and transcestral sexualities, Black-cimarrón memories from the Caribbean, and anticolonial practices and archives. The three artists in the exhibition are part of the collective Don’t Hit a la Negrx, an affective community of queer migrants that resist the racism of the Spanish state through pleasure, party and joy.

Wie viele Gebete tragen einen Körper?

Diese Installation ist ein ritueller Raum für das Überleben Schwarzer und indigener Menschen – für jene, die sich den Normen von Geschlecht und Gesellschaft entziehen, für cimarrón-Leben, deren Widerstand sich durch Zeit und Geschichte zieht.
iré ist ein leises Flüstern – ein Geheimnis der Ahnen, das durch affektive Mangroven strömt. Es öffnet einen Raum, in dem Fürsorge, Wissen und Zärtlichkeit zirkulieren. Ein Ort für all jene, deren Leben an den Rändern verhandelt wird. Diese Arbeit ist eine spirituell-epistemische Manifestation, geboren aus den Rufen schützender Gebete – Gebete, die Körper tragen, die sich dem Zugriff entziehen. Die Zeit wird angehalten, um an jene zu denken und sie zu spüren – die die bei uns sind und die die gegangen sind; die leben und die gestorben sind.

Ein kraftvoller Akt der Behauptung: das Überleben von trans* Körpern zu bezeugen und zu segnen.

 

Begleitend findet am Samstag, den 17. Mai 2025 um 18:00 Uhr eine BARAZANI-Dinnertable mit einer Performance und einem DJ-Set statt. Food for brain, belly and soul. Es werden vegane und nicht-vegane Speisen angeboten. Die Plätze für das Dinner sind begrenzt, daher bitten wir euch, euch per E-Mail an press@barazani.berlin anzumelden.

iki yos piña ist eine Cimarrona-Karibikerin in der Diaspora, Forscherin und Volksbildnerin. In ihrer Arbeit beschäftigt sie sich mit dissidenten Geschlechtern und transkulturellen Sexualitäten, Black-Cimarrón-Erinnerungen aus der Karibik sowie antikolonialen Praktiken und Archiven. Die drei Künstler*innen der Ausstellung sind Teil des Kollektivs Don't Hit a la Negrx, einer affektiven Gemeinschaft queerer Migrant*innen, die sich durch Vergnügen, Party und Freude gegen den Rassismus des spanischen Staates wehren.
